About 8 weeks ago Jason and I started taking belly pics to document this pregnancy. I’m a little shocked I’ve passed halfway point and am well into my 22nd week. Here’s a look back on the last 2 months, along with some notes I wrote along the way.
14 weeks
After weeks of talking about doing belly photos we finally got around to snapping our first set. I swear my belly is bigger than it looks in that photo. Just ask my pants.
16 weeks
Supposedly some women can start to feel their babies move this week. I keep thinking I feel something, but it’s usually just my stomach grumbling for more food. This weeks random cravings included Cap’n Crunch cereal. Specifically with crunch berries. I’ve maybe had this cereal a handful of times in my life but suddenly they were the only thing that would do.
18 weeks
Baby is definitely getting bigger, but still doesn’t want to let its movements be known. My energy is returning slowly, and I’m making my way back to the gym occasionally . But boy do I like my couch. Jason and I refer to it as my “perch” and there is bound to be a Sara sized dent in the cushion by the time this baby is on the outside. Please ignore mama’s crazy Duiven eyes in this photo.
20 weeks
It’s a boy! Suddenly this shit just got real. I find myself spying on any boys I see in public wondering exactly how old they are and what my son will be like when he’s their age. My son. Wowza. It is a concept that I am still processing a bit. I’m realizing I was more mentally prepared for a girl even though I had the intuition to think that it was a boy before we found out. I am a girl! I had sisters! I have NO reference point for boys. I’m guessing we’ll have lots of toy trucks and dinosaurs and video games. Ohmygodpenis. Mostly I just can’t wait to meet him.
22 weeks
In the last week I’ve suddenly become very aware of this little person moving inside me. Jason even got to feel a kick (or jab or head butt or something) for the first time the other day. It was very exciting. I mostly don’t feel much until I settle in on the couch or in bed, but when I can pay attention to the rumblings it’s a lot of fun. Now that I have more energy I’m starting to enjoy this pregnancy thing a little bit. Even if my walk is becoming a waddle and I get winded while cleaning out my fridge.

Congratulations you guys!!!! This is so exciting! I am so happy for all three of you!
Thanks Nancy! Congrats on little Jonah. I know my parents are eager to play the grandparent role:)
Aw, you are adorable Sara! Best of luck with the pregnancy! You are going to be a great Mom. I have 2 boys and I wrote about them recently (linked), plus you can search my archives for posts about my pregnancies and births.
Thanks Leslie! I’ve been a fiend for pregnancy blogs lately so I’ll definitely be fishing through your archives.

Thanks Colette! I’m due August 17th.
This just brightened up my day. I love you and am so happy for you! Keep the updates coming, and I know you’re going to be the most wonderful mother a son could ask for. I’m more than willing to help out with the trucks, dinosaurs, video games, nerf guns, water balloon grenades, tree forts, and climbing things that seem insurmountable…you always were there with me
. You are beautiful and radiant, and I can’t wait to see you in a few (7) short weeks! Love you!
